Dubai RTA Unveils Ramadan Operating Hours for Seamless Commuting

Dubai RTA Unveils Ramadan Operating Hours for Seamless Commuting

Dubai – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out a revised schedule for all its services during the holy month of Ramadan. In a bid to accommodate the altered daily routines and increased travel demands, RTA’s updated timetable covers the Dubai Metro, Tram, public buses, marine transport, customer service centres, and vehicle testing facilities.

Adjusted Timings for Public Transit

The updated schedule sees the Dubai Metro’s red and green lines running from 5:00 AM to midnight from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, services extend until 1:00 AM the following day, while Saturday operations revert to the 5:00 AM to midnight window. Sunday services begin later, from 8:00 AM until midnight.

Dubai Tram services have also been tailored to the Ramadan schedule. They will operate from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM (next day) from Monday to Saturday, with a slightly delayed start on Sunday at 9:00 AM, continuing until 1:00 AM.

For commuters relying on public buses and marine transport, RTA advises checking the S’hail App for the most up-to-date schedule changes during this period.

Paid Parking Timings

To further ease the commuting experience, the RTA has also adjusted paid parking timings during Ramadan:

  • Public Parking Zones: Operate on a split schedule, open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and again from 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM, Monday through Saturday.
  • Multi-level Parking Buildings: Remain accessible 24/7, offering round-the-clock parking options.

Enhanced Customer and Vehicle Testing Services

In addition to public transport, RTA has adjusted the operating hours at Customer Happiness Centres and service provider centres. Standard centres located in Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, Al Tawar, and Al Manara will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekdays, with Friday timings reduced to 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Meanwhile, Smart Customer Happiness Centres in key locations, including RTA’s Head Office, remain operational 24/7.

Vehicle testing centres have seen varied adjustments across the city. Notable changes include:

  • Tasjeel Jebel Ali: Open from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Monday through Thursday and Saturday, and until 12:00 PM on Friday.
  • Other Centres: Operating hours differ by location, with services generally available in the mornings and evenings. Importantly, from 4:01 PM to 7:59 PM each day, only vehicle testing services are offered.

Revised Salik Toll Rates

To further streamline traffic flow during Ramadan, Salik toll charges have been revised:

  • Weekday Peak Hours (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM): Dh6
  • Weekday Off-Peak (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM & 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM): Dh4
  • Special Free Periods: Toll-free travel between 2:00 AM and 7:00 AM from Monday to Saturday, with adjustments on the four Sundays of Ramadan, where a Dh4 rate applies from 7:00 AM to 2:00 AM, reverting to free travel from 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM.

A Service-Centric Approach for Ramadan

RTA’s comprehensive adjustments during Ramadan underscore its commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient travel experience. The updated schedule is designed to reflect the unique needs of commuters during this significant period, balancing convenience with safety and efficiency.

Commuters are encouraged to stay informed through the S’hail App and RTA’s official channels for any further updates or changes during Ramadan.
