Road Closures

To accommodate the large influx of visitors and ensure smooth operations, several key roads will be temporarily closed on December 31, 2024:

  • Al Asayel Street (from Oud Metha Road to Burj Khalifa): Closed from 4:00 PM.
  • Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Burj Khalifa Street, and Al Mustaqbal Street: Closures begin at 4:00 PM or earlier, depending on parking availability.
  • Lower Financial Centre Street: Closed from 4:00 PM.
  • Upper Financial Centre Street and Al Sukook Street: Closed from 8:00 PM.
  • Sheikh Zayed Road: Gradual closures starting at 11:00 PM.

Public Transport

Dubai’s public transport system will operate extended hours to cater to the celebratory crowd:

  • Dubai Metro (Red and Green Lines): Continuous operations for 43 hours, starting at 5:00 AM on December 31, 2024, until midnight on January 1, 2025. Note: The Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station will close at 5:00 PM or earlier if capacity limits are reached.
  • Dubai Tram: Runs continuously for 43 hours from 6:00 AM on December 31, 2024.
  • Buses: A fleet of 260 buses, including 20 double-deckers, will be deployed to transport guests to key locations. Services commence at 3:00 PM.

Additional parking facilities with shuttle services will be available at:

  • Al Wasl Club (500 spaces)
  • Al Jaffiliya (400 spaces)

Safety and Security Measures

Dubai authorities are prioritizing public safety with a robust security plan:

  • Personnel: Over 8,500 police officers and 1,100 patrols will be deployed across the city.
  • Monitoring: Six mobile operations rooms will oversee activities to maintain order.
  • Sanitation: Dubai Municipality will assign 2,776 staff, including sanitation workers and supervisors, to ensure cleanliness.
  • Emergency Services:
    • Dubai Civil Defence: 1,097 firefighters and 123 advanced vehicles will be on standby.
    • Dubai Ambulance: 224 emergency points staffed by 593 paramedics.

The city will be divided into four operational zones (North, Central, West, and Maritime) to streamline safety measures and enhance public services.
